Week of 5/8-12 We will have a field trip on May 11th! Use your communication skills in the real situation!! We will prepare for the test. Review sentence structures, conjugations and vocabulary.
Week of 5/1-5/5 May 5th is Children's Day in Japan. We will paint a big koinobori and fly it in the shy on May 5th! We will present "Traditional Culture vs. Pop Culture" and give comments and suggestions. We will start to prepare for the end of year test. (high school credit test)
Week of 4/24-27 We will still practice te-form. We will continue to search about Japanese traditional and pop culture.
Week of 4/17-21 We will learn new grammar "te-form". We will search about Japanese traditional culture and pop culture individually. Pick one thing for each culture.
Week of 3/6-3/10 We will have presentation time on Wednesday for the 2 days plan. We will starts new unit " Pop culture vs Traditional culture"
Week of 2/13-2/17 We will write an email to inform about NC shortly and ask the guest's favorite. In connection with Valentine's Day, we will learn about some poems of love from "hyakunin isshu" (Japanese classical literature).
Week of 2/6-2/10 Students will make a plan to invite imaginary Japanese friend to NC and guide the person 2days. Students will write an email to inform about NC shortly and ask the guest's favorite. Students will practice writing an essay about themselves.
Week of 1/30-2/3 We will practice writing an essay about ourselves. We will learn about the special day in Japan, "Setsubun" and enjoy "mamemaki=bean throwing".
Week of 1/23-26 We will be able to explain to Japanese friends about NC's population, climate, location, the things that it is famous for and what kind of place it is.
Week of 1/17-20 We will start a new unit, "My State" this week. We will be able to explain to your Japanese friends about NC's population, climate, location and what kind of place it is.
Week of 1/9-13 We will continue to demonstrate restraint communication using your own menu. Prepare for the end of semester test. The end of semester test is on Friday. Jan. 13.
Weeks of 1/3/2023-1/6/2023 We will learn about Japanese New Year's tradition. We will keep learning katakana and make a restaurant menu in katakana. Katakana menu is due on Friday and demonstrate restaurant communication using your own menu.
Weeks of 11/14-22 We are working on how to explain the direction to the destination. Practice further conversation about directions in a situation where you are showing a student on a school tour around the school.
Week of 10/24-28 We are supporting the hunger children with "onigiri action". (Onigiri is a Japanese rice ball which is made from white rice, seaweed and fillings. ) We are spreading this action to the Ligon community. We will make recipe for onigiri and make our own onigiri. We will make a video for teaching how to make it. We will start the new unit "How do we get to our destination?”.
Week of 10/17-21 We are working on the Unit "Food makes everyone smile". We are supporting the hunger children with "onigiri action". (Onigiri is a rice ball which is made from white rice, seaweed and fillings. ) They created posters, photo booths, onigiri sticks and so on to spread this action to the Ligon community. We will make our own onigiri and make a video for teaching how to make it. Please take a look at this site and upload your pictures with onigiri! Week of 10/11-14 We keep working on the onigiri action. During this activity, we will review how to use te-form and how to describe suggestion sentences. Also, we will practice to read short sentences. We will have a reading test on Friday.
Week of 10/3-7 We presented the "My Summer Vacation" poster and all the students did a great job! We will work on a new unit, "Food Makes Everyone Smile". We will search and think about world food problems. We will discuss how to spread "Onigiri Action" in the community. Vocabulary quiz on Wednesday.
Week of 9/26-9/30 We won't have a class on 9/26 because of teacher workday. We will start the new unit "Tell me how to get there" We will learn how to ask and show the directions. We will have a vocabulary quiz on Friday Sep. 30.
Welcome back to my class! We had a great start first 2 weeks. We have been talking a lot about what we experienced during summer vacation. Week of 9/19-23 We will continue to write about our summer vacation and make a presentation to share it. We will learn about the unique culture of how Japanese people spend their summers.
